This article aims to analyze diversity in the political and social context, focusing on the trajectory of Herbert Daniel, a gay man and HIV-positive whose courage and engagement in the fight against the authoritarian regime in Brazil gained prominence, focusing on how the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper constructed information about his image. Through a literature and document review, as well as content analysis, we seek to understand how the newspaper addressed the narrative of Herbert, in the figure of an activist widely recognized for his actions in defense of human rights and the LGBTQIAP+ cause, highlighting the tensions between the public space and human and social rights, in addition to identifying stereotypes in news coverage and relating them to the political agenda and rights.
