Abstract

This work proposes a reflection on the ways of experiencing time and politics based on the analysis of the speeches of the candidates for the presidency of the Republic in Brazil in the year 2022. Based on the theoretical review of the articulation of time, subjectivity and belonging, particularly in the field of politics, the article aims to undertake a systematic review of the different ways of triggering the past, in order to understand how the dimension of the lived is capable of feeding different faces of hope. In addition to the bibliographical review, the research sets out and focuses on the government programs of the best placed candidates in the election, available on the campaigns' websites. The investigation seeks to reflect on the intertwining between feelings of the past and the future, verifying the theoretical yield of the debate for the field of political sociology with an emphasis on the articulation of time and emotions. In terms of the results found, we verified how the candidates' speeches trigger pasts linked to belongings and purposes, nostalgia projected to the future.
